Motherhood and Prayer

Posted on June 10, 2023June 10, 2023by tara.dickson
motherhood, prayer

A wail pierced the air. I looked across the room and saw my youngest gather her baby girl close, kissing her cheeks and telling her all was well.  She quieted, reassured that her mother was still there, still watching, protecting and providing for her every need. My daughter and her family have been staying with […]

Now Is The Time To Grow Deeper.

Posted on August 4, 2022by tara.dickson

If I asked, “Who wants to grow deeper in Christ?” My guess is I would get a rousing shout of agreement. But we often don’t do things that would bring that to pass. Sara Haggerty in her book,  Unseen, said, ” Most of the time, we don’t reach for God until we have to. Our […]

How to Carry the Resurrection of Christ With Us.

Posted on April 18, 2022by tara.dickson

Darkness. Waiting. Feelings of doubt and despair but also the mere bubbling up of a hope not yet dead… The earth trembles, the tomb shakes, and no amount of darkness can hold back the light … the life of CHRIST!   It can’t stop there beloved! As this weekend started drawing to a close, my […]

Walking Into the New Year Waving A White Flag.

Posted on January 2, 2022January 2, 2022by tara.dickson

The rain is pouring down on the metal roof of my sunroom right above my head. The staccato rhythm of the rain is beating in my chest and it feels like the new year has swept in with gail force winds. I feel the tension in my body and I’m tired. I’m so tired of […]

Autumn Beauty and Taking Up Our Cross.

Posted on October 2, 2021October 9, 2021by tara.dickson

Fall is sweeping in and I just love it. I know some of you are mourning the end of summer but when the leaves dress in their finest, splendor and the air looses its heaviness, I feel my heart begin to skip. The afternoon light carries a depth of gold that’s fleeting, And, I wonder […]

Courage is Yours For The Taking.

Posted on September 19, 2021by tara.dickson

I’ve felt it deep in my soul. Like the steady beating of a heart. Courage. Courage. Courage. The lack of it. The great need of it. The way it has the power to change things when a frail human lays hold of it and steps up to the plate we call life. I don’t know […]

The Power to Live A More Than “Normal” Life This Year.

Posted on January 12, 2021by tara.dickson

Well, we’re officially into the new year and I think we can all see there was no magic reset button to bring all things back to normal. But here’s what I’ve learned in the last six years beloved. NORMAL is overrated. Six years ago today, we stumbled out onto Michigan Avenue after doctors told us […]

The State Of Our Hearts.

Posted on February 13, 2019by tara.dickson

As Valentine’s Day approaches, I want to be so intentional. In our family this day has always been so simple. Some chocolates for our children, some flowers for me from my husband and a special home cooked meal. Since I was raised by a single mama, the kids and I would often take flowers to […]

Thanksgiving Is Rooted In Receiving.

Posted on November 21, 2018by tara.dickson

Thanksgiving is upon us and maybe like me you want this season we are ushering in to be MORE. With every passing year, I feel the holy hush enter my soul just a bit earlier. It’s more than just the upcoming holidays filled with family, food and friends. It’s the general lifting of so many […]

We live in a fallen world, people sin, and hurt abounds.
But God…. It is the place I am learning to live in.
Yes, these things are true.
My leg still hurts from an injury back in February and my car broke down on the way to church. But also, a friend painted my kitchen cabinets cream and my son repaired my deck. I find myself savoring more of God’s word, I read books to my grands in silly voices and I get to have conversations about Jesus everyday.

I am standing in faith waiting on God for many things… You are too right?
But God.
He Still lives and His promises are true. He is not man that He should lie. ❤️
Dear friends, if your heart tends to linger over what has not yet been made whole maybe like me you need the reminder of who God is and what he has done so that gratitude can revive your heart.
Don’t miss today’s new episode of the Seek and Savor podcast on this topic. (Link in bio.)
Many things may be true, the hard and the beautiful but gratitude can revive your heart. ❤️

More time at home can mean more time to look inside ourselves.

This makes us uncomfortable so we often fill our time with Netflix, music, or anything to distract ourselves.

I love a good movie as much as the next person. But I’m determined to walk out of this season with MORE.

When the Spirit led me to pray this prayer, it took me by surprise!
“God please use the dead things to nourish the soil of my heart.”
What did that even mean?

We’ve all got them beloved, things that aren’t bearing fruit. But here is the good news! He will use even those things.

Invite Him to turn the soil of your heart. Give it a good weeding.
He works all things together for our good

We can trust Him.

Even as we see things slipping through our fingers that we wanted to hold onto.

God is already in the act of bringing life from that.

Can you trust him beloved? What is he asking you to let go?

So thankful for this man my children got to call Dad. He was so selfless always putting our needs above his own. He was faithful and filled our home with laughter. His work ethic and how He used it to serve others and teach our boys how to serve is one of my favorite things. But nothing surpassed His desire to follow Jesus more. I love that my children will always remember waking up to Him in his chair, Bible in his lap and coffee in hand.
I wish He was here today to tell him one more time how loved He is and how grateful we are for all the ways He cared for our hearts.
Love is more than words. It is laying down your life, your desires for someone else. ❤️
Thank you Father for Alan Dickson.

Who can stand in the middle of a battlefield and find peace beloved?

Peace isn’t found in the cease-fire. You CAN find it while the battle still rages when you allow God’s spirit to sift through your life and simplify things.

In the sifting some things have to go while others stay. But space is made to hear His voice and there is peace in His presence. This is your invitation to join me as we quiet our hearts together over on the Seek and Savor podcast. Let’s simplify our lives by listening to His voice. ❤️

I’ve been asking the Lord for more.
I’m realizing I need Him more than I’ve reached for Him in the past.
What I mean by that is, of course we need Him to save us, friends.
But, He didn’t just sacrifice His life for ours and stop there.

Psalm 139 says He is intimately acquainted with all our ways.

When my husband went to heaven and the fog of constant grief started lifting, I began to see how very much alone I was..

Who would help me make all the decisions I was used to making with a partner?
The ones, we take for granted like; What’s for dinner?
What color should we paint the house?
Is it time to replace the water heater or should we wait?
And the bigger ones like how should I handle a conflict with my child or is it time to sell the house?
It only took a few weeks before I had decision fatigue.😰
Then one day out of frustration, I said, Lord, since he’s not here, I need you to do all these things….And you know what?
He did.
As I waited on Him, he answered.
I began asking him to be everything: my counselor, my friend, my physician, everything.
So, it was no surprise to me after one particularly stressful week, I came across this verse in my reading.

“The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statues of the Lord are trustworthy making wise the simple.”
Ps. 19: 7(NKJV)

There He was again, giving me the perfect prescription for a dry, weary soul crying out for direction.

What do you need the Lord to do for you beloved?

Ask and he will answer. Seek and you will find.

Tag a friend who needs to remember that He wants to be our Everything!

Are you finding and savoring the good?

In this “instant society” we live in it is so tempting to ask for things like hope, joy and peace in a grocery list type of way.
I ask. He delivers.
And please don’t require me to wait.
Instead, it is more about relationship.
Like Jacob wrestling the angel of the Lord it is in the process of wrestling through life while holding onto the Lord  that good stuff is produced.
Ps. 16:11 says,
“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
Take 10 minutes and listen to the rest of this episode, “Finding the Good,” on the Seek and Savor podcast.
Something sweet happens when we realize there is purpose even in the hard and God wants to use it for our good! 💕
