How To Find Joy The Day After.

Posted on November 25, 2016November 23, 2017by tara.dickson

It kind of hit me out of nowhere, this empty feeling. Like all of the joy and excitement had drained away like a tub of water. I expect it the day after Christmas. When December 26 rolls around, there has been such a building up of weeks of anticipation. The world looks different everywhere your […]

Cultivating A Heart of Thanksgiving.

Posted on November 22, 2016November 23, 2017by tara.dickson

Every November the landscape changes just a bit. I’m not talking about how the trees start to shed their glorious leaves but rather the fabric of our thoughts and conversations start to alter. We begin to share the things we are thankful for on social media. We talk about abundance of food, family and good […]

What Does Courage Look Like?

Posted on November 20, 2016December 21, 2016by tara.dickson

The trees on my morning walk are changing. The last of the bright red leaves are bravely clinging to their branches, while the ground is covered in every autumn hue. With each gust of wind they rain down, a fresh blanket for my feet to crush in the passing.      As the […]

How To Find Peace During the Holidays, Or Any Day.

Posted on November 17, 2016December 21, 2016by tara.dickson

Sitting on a chaise lounge wrapped in the fluffiest robe you can imagine, sipping on hot tea and gazing out the window at beautiful evergreen trees. Their spiny tips crammed full of clusters of pine cones. I drag in a deep shaky breath and let out a huge sigh.      Immediately my thoughts start […]

Come Away With Me On A Walk To Remember

Posted on November 11, 2016December 21, 2016by tara.dickson

As Anne of Green Gables would say, “I’ve come to invite you on one of our old time rambles.” I wanted to invite you, dear readers, into the walk I took in the mountains today. How appropriate that the Lord would take me away to the mountains to be with him. Alan’s place.   I […]

What Is Your Why?

Posted on November 10, 2016December 21, 2016by tara.dickson

Have you ever asked yourself why you are doing what you’re doing? Is it your passion? Is it something you fell into and chose by default? Did someone choose it for you?      I’m just starting to let myself dream. I feel a bit guilty even typing that word, “Dream”. It feels […]

He Restores My Soul.

Posted on November 1, 2016December 21, 2016by tara.dickson

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. There  is no good thing that I lack. His provision is enough in life, in my circumstances, in my heart, and no matter how weary my soul may feel. He is more than enough! I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green […]

Why It’s Okay to Feel Sadness In the Midst of Hope.

Posted on October 30, 2016December 21, 2016by tara.dickson

I have been feeling something coming on. You know that feeling you have when you feel like your about to get a cold. Well, I had that this week but it wasn’t physical. I felt it deep in my spirit, in my heart. (This isn’t fun beloved. However I told you that I […]

The Work of Our Hands.

Posted on October 29, 2016December 21, 2016by tara.dickson

I passed by a little print in my bathroom this morning that I had propped up on a “vintage shelf” I got recently.  As I read the words once again I marveled at how dear they were to me.  When life has been chaotic, and if feels like not only has your apple […]

Dear Readers,      I needed to write you a short note and let you know how very dear you have become to my heart! Some of you have shared your story with me and commented on the words the Lord has given me to share. Some of you have just showed up to read […]

I’ve been asking the Lord for more.
I’m realizing I need Him more than I’ve reached for Him in the past.
What I mean by that is, of course we need Him to save us, friends.
But, He didn’t just sacrifice His life for ours and stop there.

Psalm 139 says He is intimately acquainted with all our ways.

When my husband went to heaven and the fog of constant grief started lifting, I began to see how very much alone I was..

Who would help me make all the decisions I was used to making with a partner?
The ones, we take for granted like; What’s for dinner?
What color should we paint the house?
Is it time to replace the water heater or should we wait?
And the bigger ones like how should I handle a conflict with my child or is it time to sell the house?
It only took a few weeks before I had decision fatigue.😰
Then one day out of frustration, I said, Lord, since he’s not here, I need you to do all these things….And you know what?
He did.
As I waited on Him, he answered.
I began asking him to be everything: my counselor, my friend, my physician, everything.
So, it was no surprise to me after one particularly stressful week, I came across this verse in my reading.

“The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statues of the Lord are trustworthy making wise the simple.”
Ps. 19: 7(NKJV)

There He was again, giving me the perfect prescription for a dry, weary soul crying out for direction.

What do you need the Lord to do for you beloved?

Ask and he will answer. Seek and you will find.

Tag a friend who needs to remember that He wants to be our Everything!

Are you finding and savoring the good?

In this “instant society” we live in it is so tempting to ask for things like hope, joy and peace in a grocery list type of way.
I ask. He delivers.
And please don’t require me to wait.
Instead, it is more about relationship.
Like Jacob wrestling the angel of the Lord it is in the process of wrestling through life while holding onto the Lord  that good stuff is produced.
Ps. 16:11 says,
“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
Take 10 minutes and listen to the rest of this episode, “Finding the Good,” on the Seek and Savor podcast.
Something sweet happens when we realize there is purpose even in the hard and God wants to use it for our good! 💕

We weren’t running to escape something, nor were we running to pursue our dreams. We were simply following God’s still small voice when we moved here 10 years ago this month. He was the one thing we could cling to in a tumultuous season of grief. We left everything we knew but we traveled with the one who knew us before we were born.
Make room to hear His still small voice beloved. You won’t regret it. ❤️#seekandsavorpodcast #liftupyoureyes #rejoicealways #hopeforthefuture

Maybe, like me you need this gentle reminder.

The Lord’s love for us is great beloved! His compassions never fail.

When we wake up in the morning His mercies are there to meet us.

Truth is meant to be spoken over our own hearts. Try it... OUT LOUD.

It might feel weird at first but I guarantee you the more you do it the more you begin to believe the words you’ve been reading.

They become a charge to your own heart. A fire is IGNITED to believe his promises, the things he says about His people and the HOPE we have in Jesus.

He is our portion.

He is all we need...so we can wait on him to make everything right. In this world, in our relationships, in our own hearts.

Trust him beloved.

P.S. Waiting on God is a place of honor. Go read Ps 147:11 He favors those who fear him and wait on his lovingkindness.

He’s got us. ❤️
