When was the last time you felt the hum of anxiety

When was the last time you felt the hum of anxiety run through you?
I mean let’s be honest. Anxiety can threaten us on our worst days and our best days.
Whether today holds the excitement of a birthday party or a dreaded dental appointment, anxiety just loves to worm its way in there and steal our joy.
Even something as mundane as scrolling Instagram can bring it about. Before we know it, we are comparing our lives to someone else’s and we feel that anxious engine revving.
I was trying to be proactive the other day by renewing my mind in God’s word before the spiritual attacks came.
I read,

“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4: 7 (ESV)

Immediately I got this picture of me as a super- hero with my hand held up as if to STOP the enemy of my soul, so he would flee. I skipped right over the “submit” part, because Jesus already had my heart. That was a given.

But then the Spirit whispered to my heart, wait, what does submit mean? Well, I guess it means surrender, Lord. And is there anything that you haven’t surrendered to me that might be causing you to feel anxious?
Instantly, I knew.
I dropped to my knees. This, Lord I surrender this. And, as I surrendered my will to His and resisted the enemy, he did flee. The peace of God came in like a flood.
It’s so easy to think our surrender to God is a one and done, friend.
But He wants us to surrender our hearts to Him every day.

I’ve been practicing the presence of God. It’

I’ve been practicing the presence of God.

It’s the cry of my heart to seek him on the good days as well as the hard.

But I am human and I tend to seek Him more when life is hard and I am desperate.

So yes, it takes practice. I am practicing REMEMBERING that He is with me all the day long.

This found me sitting in my chair one morning. I had just finished some work and it was still and quiet so I asked, “Is there anything you want to tell me Lord?”

You see, sometimes I get so busy I don’t ask.

After waiting for what seemed like several minutes but I’m sure was so brief, I was frustrated that nothing came to mind,
No scripture, no thought.
In fact my mind was EMPTY.

And I exhaled, ME.
My thoughts my preconceived ideas and what I thought I needed to hear from the Lord about.

And these words tumbled into my mind and heart.

“And lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

It’s the simple truth and answer to every question I have. It’s enough.

So beloved, I’m sharing this with you as we go into a new weekend with just as many unknowns.

Because, this is all we need to REMEMBER.

When we forget God and who He is… we wander away, just like the children of Israel did.
Generations can either know the Lord and the great works He has done or NOT know Him.
Deut. 4:9 says,” Only be on your guard and diligently watch yourselves, so that you don’t forget the things your eyes have seen and so that they don’t slip from your mind as long as you live. Teach them to your children and grandchildren.”
