Knowing my God > Knowing Myself.

Posted on February 9, 2020February 9, 2020by tara.dickson

In a world that is all about knowing  “who we are” and finding our identity, I realized something today. It doesn’t matter if I know who I am if I don’t know who my God is. Knowing who my God is changes everything. It will change how I interact with Him. It will change my […]

I will give thanks to the Lord with all my heart. I will give thanks to the Lord with all my heart.
I will tell of all Your wonders!

It’s so easy to slip into a mentality of lack or even need when we come to the Father.

I’m so aware of all the ways I need the Father,
of all the areas I need Him to move in my life and in the lives around me,
that before I know it I can slip back into the habit of just coming to him with my long, long list of things I think I need.

When in reality, as Psalm 23 says,
“ The Lord is my Shepherd , I lack nothing.”

I know this doesn’t mean that I can’t ask him for things. In fact he tells us to.

But I want to create in my heart a constant awareness of all that He has already done on my behalf.

I want to walk in the realization that I will never know all the ways God has already moved on my behalf, even before I asked him.

And, I want that to change me, the way I think and speak and pray. I want to know this so deeply that when I come before him with requests, I can’t help but praise Him first.

May thankfulness change the very fabric of our being!
Verses to Seek and Savor: Ps. 95:2; Phil. 4:6; Ps. 9:1
What are some areas in your life where you are believing the lie of lack over abundance?
I would love to agree with you in prayer. Let’s move that mountain of unbelief.
I’ll start. ❤️
Save this post to remember or share to stories and encourage a friend.
Why does the light draw us beloved? Let this word Why does the light draw us beloved? Let this word encourage your heart. You were made for greater things, eternal things. ❤️#lighttheworld #lightofmylife #thereisnodarkness #renewyourmind #hopeforthefuture #liftupyoureyes #rejoicealways
I don’t know about you friend but there can be s I don’t know about you friend but there can be so many things pulling at our time that we end up doing the things that demand our attention and roll onto the next. A little of this, a little of that and nothing done well.
I’ve felt the Lord calling me to slow down long enough to listen for His still small voice.
I’m holding things up to the light. This Lord? Is this something you still want me to do?
What about that Lord? Can I still bring you glory that way?
I want to clear my schedule of everything I I’ve put on it that isn’t necessarily something He put there.
And if there is something I keep “never getting around to” that He really wants me to, my desire is to bring it front and center.
We can do things “with all our might,” beloved and we should. Because with Christ living in us the possibilities are endless.
Maybe we just need to pause first, rearrange our to-do lists and let Him fill us up.
He is an overflowing, abundant kind of God.
The very best!
What needs to shift in your daily life to make space for His best for you?

I ran across these words one day in my reading.

“Seek the Lord and His strength. Seek His face continually. Remember His wonders which He has done.” Ps. 105:4

If you are anything like me, familiar words can lose their power to move you.

Maybe you’ve even sung “Seek ye first the kingdom of God,” so much that you’ve forgotten why we should do that and the power that comes when we do.

But friends, we actually never stop seeking things. It’s something we do on the daily.

We seek fame or fortune, friendship or achievement. We seek answers to questions we have. We often look for these things in ourselves and in the world around us.

Maybe that’s why this verse met me today. We are no strangers to seeking beloved and it seems like the author of this Psalm knew we would even seek strength from sources other than our Lord.

But when we REMEMBER His wonders and SEEK Him continually something changes in us beyond the obvious.
He is a faithful God, so Yes, we get the direction we are seeking and we get the strength we need but verse 3 of that same chapter says we also are GLAD!

Seeking God and Remembering Who He is, brings joy to our hearts beloved.

It’s the reminder I needed on this Monday!

I want to run into the future with JOY, because I am seeking His face beyond all the other things my heart desires.

I want “remembering His wonders” to overwhelm any fears that may assail my heart. If you want this too dear ones it only requires Seeking Him... continually and Remembering Who He is.

How are you Seeking Him today?
Drop it in the comments! 🙌🏻

I had been pressing into the Lord about a concern I had been pressing into the Lord about a concern I had for several weeks.
Then one day I heard his Spirit ask me, “Are you willing to suffer in this discomfort if I use it to encourage someone else?”

Oh beloved, how we strive and struggle when God doesn’t act on the time frame we think he should.
We totally miss, that in the struggle we tend to draw near to Him. We begin to realize we can’t even take our next breath without him. So we lean in.

And as we lean deeper into Him, we take on the aroma of Christ. Our will becomes one with His and waiting is a place filled with the peace of His presence.
“Lead me in your truth and teach me,
For You are the God of my salvation;
For You I wait all the day.”
Ps.25:5
What are you waiting on God to do?
Save this to encourage you in the waiting and share to stories to encourage a friend .🍁🍂

I was sitting outside on the front step one evenin I was sitting outside on the front step one evening, just wanting to soak in the close of day.

The past few days had been like a kiss of glorious fall and I just wanted to savor the moment.

I heard a branch rustle in the tree above my head and glanced up to see a bird settling in for the night.

Suddenly, I wanted to have a closer look at what it was doing. Was it puffing its feathers out or tucking its beak under its wing? Was it alone or did it have a mate?
The leaves were obscuring my view so I just had to settle for the picture I painted in my mind.

Beloved have you stopped to take a breath between summer and school starting back?

Some seasons just seem made for savoring while others seem to just plain wear us out.

I hope you will join us this month as we Savor all the goodness God has surrounded us with.
Catch last week’s episode on the Freedom of being crucified with Christ or catch up on some episodes you have missed

What are you Savoring this week?
