Open Heart Surgery- The Valentine Gift We All Need.

Posted on February 2, 2017by tara.dickson

“Be still my soul, the Lord is on the side. Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain. Leave to thy God to order and provide. In every storm he faithful will remain.” These words from an old hymn by Katherine Von Schlegel have come to me twice in the last week. I was walking […]

Come to Me Beloved, Come to Me.

Posted on October 18, 2016December 21, 2016by tara.dickson

Come to me… So it’s the middle of October and I can imagine that the fall days that seemed to stretch ahead of you are filling up. You’re beginning to think about all the things that simply must get done before the holidays and you are still carrying in your heart those burdens and concerns […]

The Lord is a shelter for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. Those who know your name, trust in you, for you, O Lord do not abandon those who search for you.  Oppression is when cruel or unjust restraints are placed on someone, it also means that someone has something heavy […]

I am loving the Bible Recap with Tara Leigh Cobble as part of my daily reading this year.
She dropped this truth bomb the other day and I had to push rewind and write it down.
Truth from God’s word is worth savoring friends.
The reality that God is Always working on our behalf and no man can thwart His purposes is an anchor for your heart on the days your circumstances feel like mountains no man can climb.
We can trust in our faithful God beloved.

“In your strength I can crush an army; with my God I can scale any wall.”
Psalm 18:29

Redirecting my eyes towards the truth of God’s word always redirects my heart. ❤️#seekandsavorpodcast #hopeinhim #rejoicealways

Sometimes, we just need to step away and remind ourselves that our God knows all that is troubling our souls and He has not given us over beloved.

For me that often looks like walking.
After I walked this beautiful farm I sat on top of a hill and witnessed the ever changing sky. Minute by minute the colors changed, chasing each other until even the lavender faded to black.

It reminded me that everyday he goes to great lengths to show us He is present. We can either stop and notice or continue on, overwhelmed by what our feelings are speaking to us.

He is for you beloved!
How do you press pause and remind your soul this is true?

It’s ok to take a step back and focus on what is in front of you.
Because the truth of it is we only have today once.
Tomorrow it will be yesterday.
I don’t want to look back and see that I allowed my feelings about what might be happening in “today” to rob me of the GIFT of it.
The sheer miraculous gift of what our eyes are seeing and the sounds all around us is evidence that God is here in our midst.

He is with us in the joyful and the mundane.
His right hand holds us steady in the hard and His Spirit counsels and keeps our hearts.
Quiet your heart beloved. Listen to His still small voice and proceed with courage. ❤️

* More on listening to His voice coming soon to the Seek and Savor podcast.

How do you remind your heart He is near?

She isn’t tiny anymore.
But as I look at her little bowed head and heart full of faith I am reminded that God is faithful.
We may live on a battlefield and feel the tug of war over our hearts and those we love but we forget something beloved.
Our God is able.
He isn’t dependent on our earthly wisdom.
He doesn’t rely on our ability to figure things out.
Even as a mature grandmother who walks with God I find my own heart forgetting.
I find myself anxious about waves that come against us, the ones that threaten to overtake us.
But when I quiet my soul, and surrender I remember.
I am not alone.
We are not alone.
He fights on our behalf.
Will He use us? Yes.
But the answers, the relief, the rescue lies in Him.
I got the joy of talking to this dear girl this week who isn’t this little anymore, about hearing God’s voice. We talked about how to recognize it, and how to make space for it.
Ah… that is the rub isn’t it friends?

“My soul waits in silence for God only. From Him is my salvation.” Ps.62:1
“My soul waits in silence for God only, for my hope is from Him.” Ps. 62:5

When was the last time you waited in silence? If your heart feels conviction you aren’t alone.

Who is willing to wait on the Lord with me?❤️

I woke up this morning with these words coming out of my mouth. “Up from the grave He arose.”
But they continued…
“With a mighty triumph o’er His foes.
He arose a VICTOR from the dark domain
And He lives FOREVER…”
These words are from a song written by Robert Lowry.
But my heart claimed them aa my own upon waking.
The enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy. But Jesus came that we may have LIFE friends!
I don’t know the things you may find yourself wrestling with in your everyday life.
I don’t know the wilderness season you may find yourself in or the grief that may feel like is breaking your heart.
But I do know this good news is bigger than a day!
It was for yesterday, today and tomorrow.
It will carry you when you feel weary and hide you in the shadow of the Almighty as you wait for deliverance.
The good news that Jesus came, He died and He rose from the dead is for EVERYONE!
It’s for you beloved.
John 14:1 (ESV)
“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.“
Psalm 9:10 (ESV)
“And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.“
