Hope. We all need it beloved. Proverbs 13:12 say Hope.

We all need it beloved.

Proverbs 13:12 says, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick.”

If you’re still reeling from this past year and not too excited about the new one because who knows when or if our normal will reappear, then let me encourage you.

You can have “The Power to Live a More Than Normal Life.”

I’m sharing those truths over on my blog today. When your personal world collapses you need more than a “pull yourself up by your bootstraps” way of thinking.

It’s a new year. ⁠ ⁠ We all breathe a collec It’s a new year. ⁠

We all breathe a collective sigh.⁠
 ⁠
2020 was supposed to be the year of clear vision. ⁠
⁠
But I’ve been thinking. ⁠God never promised us clear vision. ⁠
⁠
He promised us he would be with us⁠—in the muddy waters of life threatening to overwhelm us.

Or Like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the fire. ⁠
⁠
I don’t know what your muddy waters or fires have looked like this year, but this is why we can take fresh hope with us into the new year. ⁠
⁠
“Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: ⁠
Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.⁠
They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness”⁠
(Lamentations 3:21-23, NIV)⁠.⁠
⁠
The only thing that should consume us is God’s great love. ⁠
Because of it, we’re still standing. We’re still breathing. ⁠We’re still here to praise His name, and He goes with us. ⁠

This is us. Six year ago today, about an hour aft This is us.

Six year ago today, about an hour after the doctors in Chicago told us to go home and set up hospice.

The light in my eyes is supernatural. I guarantee you there were many tears that came too. But in that moment, I was overwhelmed by God’s Grace. I was there, in the city of my birth, and God was pouring bountiful snow on my head as the worst news was delivered. I felt carried in His bosom, seen to the depths of my being. And while my heart felt broken beyond repair, I also knew I was SO loved.

Today, it’s snowing again here in Tennessee and I am reminded of this....

“The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me, your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever.” 
Psalm 138:8

Our God is gracious beloved.

I’ve had all the feelings this weekend preparing I’ve had all the feelings this weekend preparing to celebrate this son’s birthday on Sunday. 

In one way it seems like yesterday he was tromping around our woods in cowboy boots, black felt hat mashed on his head.
He’s always been brave climbing to the top of the swing set at 1 year old and the top of the pine trees years later.
Challenging and willful when he was younger but I felt the Spirit whisper to my heart, this boy feels things so deeply and loves people well.  He told me He would take the strong and willful and make Him bold and steadfast in His faith.
Well, today he’s 25 and weathered more storms than I ever thought He would have to. 
But he’s been faithful and Jesus has been faithful too.
He loves God and people well and we His family are the most blessed to call him ours. @therealnatedickson Dad and I are so proud of you. Keep fixing your gaze.

I was sitting here praying, asking the Lord what w I was sitting here praying, asking the Lord what we needed to remember today and my eyes landed on this.

Now is the time beloved fo build ourselves up in our most holy faith.

Jude 1:20-21 says it this way,
“But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit, and await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will bring you eternal life. In this way, you will keep yourselves safe in God’s love.”

So today we don’t have to solve all the worlds problems BUT we can....

Remember what we have seen the Creator do. Build each other up. Pray. And await the mercy of God.

I don’t know about you. But to me those are actions I can take. Small, measurable actions that keep me close to the heart of God while our hearts are kept safe, “hidden” in God’s love.

It’s okay to be hidden today beloved. What bett It’s okay to be hidden today beloved.

What better place to hide our hearts than in the secret place of His tent?

We don’t have to be the ones to lift our heads above the enemy of our souls.

What do we do then Tara?

He says it... Offer the sacrifices. We can offer the sacrifice of praise. We can shout for joy because of the Lord. He is near to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

Don’t let the chaos around you dictate your feelings. Hide your heart in the presence of your Savior and emerge refreshed to bring Hope to the weary.
