A Walk Towards Finding Freedom

Posted on January 13, 2017by tara.dickson

Teach me to number my days O Lord, that I may gain a heart of wisdom. (Psalm 90:12) I was at the end of a walk, climbing up the hill to my house. Even though it’s the beginning of winter, the Lord had given us a reprieve from the bitter cold and it was spring- […]

When Joy and Heartbreak Collide.

Posted on January 5, 2017by tara.dickson

It’s earlier than usual as I climb into bed. This big, soft empty bed. I try not to go to bed early. I want to be as tired as I can, read, watch something on Netflix, go to bed tired. So tired that I can’t keep my eyes open. Then I am too tired, too […]

When You Need A Word for the New Year.

Posted on December 31, 2016by tara.dickson

As I have been trying to prepare my heart for the New Year or at least New Year’s Eve. My mind is a jumbled mess. My memories are filled with experiences. Thoughts of years past when we played board games, drank eggnog and tried to stay awake for the ball to drop, swirl through my […]

How To Find Joy The Day After.

Posted on November 25, 2016November 23, 2017by tara.dickson

It kind of hit me out of nowhere, this empty feeling. Like all of the joy and excitement had drained away like a tub of water. I expect it the day after Christmas. When December 26 rolls around, there has been such a building up of weeks of anticipation. The world looks different everywhere your […]

Cultivating A Heart of Thanksgiving.

Posted on November 22, 2016November 23, 2017by tara.dickson

Every November the landscape changes just a bit. I’m not talking about how the trees start to shed their glorious leaves but rather the fabric of our thoughts and conversations start to alter. We begin to share the things we are thankful for on social media. We talk about abundance of food, family and good […]

What Does Courage Look Like?

Posted on November 20, 2016December 21, 2016by tara.dickson

The trees on my morning walk are changing. The last of the bright red leaves are bravely clinging to their branches, while the ground is covered in every autumn hue. With each gust of wind they rain down, a fresh blanket for my feet to crush in the passing.      As the […]

Come Away With Me On A Walk To Remember

Posted on November 11, 2016December 21, 2016by tara.dickson

As Anne of Green Gables would say, “I’ve come to invite you on one of our old time rambles.” I wanted to invite you, dear readers, into the walk I took in the mountains today. How appropriate that the Lord would take me away to the mountains to be with him. Alan’s place.   I […]

Why It’s Okay to Feel Sadness In the Midst of Hope.

Posted on October 30, 2016December 21, 2016by tara.dickson

I have been feeling something coming on. You know that feeling you have when you feel like your about to get a cold. Well, I had that this week but it wasn’t physical. I felt it deep in my spirit, in my heart. (This isn’t fun beloved. However I told you that I […]

Anchored in Christ.

Posted on October 14, 2016December 21, 2016by tara.dickson

It’s noisy outside isn’t it? Come away with me for just 5 minutes, a brief time out if you please because I cannot wait to give you some good news!       I love this verse because when you are in the trenches beloved, you need a verse to hang your hat on! I need […]

Day Seven: A Joyful Hope – It is possible.

Posted on October 7, 2016December 21, 2016by tara.dickson

Today calls us out even further into the waters of believing. It goes beyond an attitude of hope to a Joyful Hope. One that is so sure that God is with us that we anticipate with excitement how He is going to show up. I want to be very real and transparent beloved I am […]

A little bit of fall and a little bit of Christmas sparkle, it seems appropriate for this first day of December.
I stepped into Autumn with great excitement as I always do. The anticipation of what was to come felt hopeful.
And then the plug was pulled and life happened and the hope of all things being made new seemed to circle the drain. Has that happened to you beloved?
You start to Hope and then more hardship appears on the horizon.
Perhaps it happens when we aren’t fixing our eyes on the one who is HOPE but instead on what we “hope” will come to pass.
“Without becoming weak in faith, he contemplated his own body….. now as good as dead… yet with respect to the promise of God, he did not waver in unbelief.” Rom. 4:19-20
Abraham did it.
He looked at himself and saw the great LACK to be able to bring about the promises of God.
But He didn’t get stuck there.
Then he lifted up His eyes to the ONE who is Hope and he did not waver in unbelief.
If life has come at you full force dear ones, and the anticipation of what is to come feels like dread instead of HOPE, come with me.
Turn your eyes away from your body as good as dead and lift them up to our Savior, the long awaited Immanuel, God with us. ❤️

‘’Tis Mercy All” hangs in my bathroom. I see it everyday and yet I forget that living a life of faith often requires “walking by faith,” NOT by sight.
Then His Word reminds me, trusting in Christ is a privilege NOT a right and even our faith in Him is a gift!
It’s true, “’Tis Mercy All!”❤️
Happy Thanksgiving to those who are walking. Whether today looks like a faith walk or you can actually SEE His goodness, keep walking!

“We were created to live in a real, heart-gripping, agenda-setting, behavior forming awe of God.
But other awes kidnap our hearts.
Awe of creation, awe of other people, and awe of ourselves shove the awe of God out of our hearts.
So, we need grace to see again, to tremble again, and to bow down again at the feet of the One who deserves our awe.” - Paul David Tripp
Meditating on this today and letting the awe of God transform my heart.❤️
What thought is filling your heart today friends?

I was reading in 1 Cor. 9 where Paul talked about plowing in hope.

Here is my question....

What are you plowing in the soil of your heart beloved?

We serve a God of ALL hope.

Maybe life doesn’t look all that hopeful for you. Or maybe it’s mostly great but there’s that one thing you just can’t seem to dig up “hope” for.

Dear ones,

Hope is not a lack of sorrow. It is not ignoring the fact that something in your life is hard. That’s pretending.

Hope is looking up beyond the sorrow to the future joy. It is anchoring our souls in Jesus so we can face today and move forward into tomorrow.

So plow up the soil of your heart with Hope. Then wait for the harvest. ❤️

God desires to meet us smack dab in the middle of ALL of it!
We may not get to choose what life throws at us but we can certainly choose how we think about those things.
We can take every thought captive.
We can fix our eyes on Jesus,
And we can choose to let His love and peace fill our hearts. ❤️

I see weariness all around me and we’re are a little desperate.
I know you see it too.
I see it in the frazzled mom at school drop off, toddler pinned to her side trying to make sure her older child has what they need for their day.
I see it in the drive-through worker who can’t bring themselves to smile or even meet my eyes.
Or, in the person behind me in traffic laying on their horn if I don’t jump at the first sign of the light turning green
I even see it in myself as I drag my body out the door at the end of a long day of work to walk, because it’s the right thing to do.
But weariness doesn’t just come to our bodies it can also come to our souls.
That’s the kind of weary that has become abundant. It’s everywhere we look.
And it’s often hidden in sighs that come from the deepest places, in empty eyes, impatient responses, and bodies that can’t sleep at night.

How in the world can we rejoice my friends when we are worn so thin, so very weary of all that the world is slinging our way?
It’s been almost 2 years since this book came out on Amazon and I’m thinking it’s time for me to review what God taught me the first time.
How about you friend?
Is your weary soul in need of rejoicing? ❤️
