Finding Jesus In The Nooks and Crannies.

Posted on November 6, 2017by tara.dickson

We were walking along the harbor in Beaufort, South Carolina. Well, I was walking, Ava was dancing. The sun was just beginning to set, casting a glow of golden light shimmering across the waters. I found myself sharing with Ava,”It’s beautiful! Look at the beautiful water God gave us, Ava!” Yesterday, it was a spontaneous […]

The Treasures Around Us.

Posted on September 24, 2017September 25, 2017by tara.dickson

It’s paradise, they say, or at least as close as you can get to it! Looking around it would seem so! The vegetation is so lush all around you, every shade of green broken up my bright pinks, creamy whites and bold reds. Sitting on this balcony gazing out at the blue waves that stretch […]

Drink From the Well

Posted on October 19, 2016December 21, 2016by tara.dickson

Now the day is over.  Night is drawing nigh.  Shadows of the evening, steal across the sky. These are the words that came to my mind as I saw the night sky above me on a walk last night. It produced such a longing in my heart for that calm sweet feeling that comes when […]

Posted on October 6, 2016December 21, 2016by tara.dickson

Hope that is seen is no hope at all. For who hopes for what he already sees?  This friends, this one stops me in my tracks. Let’s just take a moment and look at something beautiful.  Even these flowers show hope. Once they were but tiny seeds. That were placed in a very dark place. […]

I had a big disappointment recently, some heartach I had a big disappointment recently, some heartache and other extra hard things. I choked back the tears, tried to lift up my eyes and keep going.
This morning I woke up and did all the things...
taught and graded my classes, read my Bible and headed out to deliver groceries. I was in between jobs and I couldn’t go one step further.
I felt the Spirit tugging at my heart that today my heart needed more. So I pulled over in one of my favorite spots to put pen to paper and mend my heart back together with TRUTH.
These are some of the ways my God has been faithful and I WILL trust Him to be faithful again.
Even the back of a grocery receipt works friends!
If your day has been hard, I beg of you to stop and put pen to paper.
How has your God been faithful to you beloved?

I’m exhaling fear and inhaling faith. You too? I’m exhaling fear and inhaling faith. You too?

When the future is filled with all kinds of unknowns, my heart wants to hang on to every drop of today, not sure what tomorrow will bring.

But I’m remembering Joshua and Caleb.

Even though the land God promised them was full of giants, that made them feel like grasshoppers, Caleb said,” We should by all means go up and take possession of it, for we will surely overcome it.”

How is that possible beloved?

With voices around them speaking doom and gloom and their own eyes testifying to mountain of difficulty before them they trusted God.
Because the truth is dear ones, where Christ is there is no need to fear.

Now more than ever our courage comes from knowing when we have accepted Christ as our Savior, His Spirit dwells in us!
Take Courage friend, “do not be afraid, do not be discouraged for the Lord your God will go with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

Are you looking for direction? Are you crying out Are you looking for direction? Are you crying out for God’s guidance?

I was reading this favorite the other day, when God highlighted a word to me.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and “LEAN” not on your own understanding. In all your ways submit to Him and He will make your paths straight.”

I desperately want to hear God’s voice to follow the path He has for me, but often I find myself leaning on my own understanding of something. Using my own understanding to support the decisions I make.

When I remember that scripture says even man’s wisdom is foolishness to God, it reminds me to exhale.

Apart from God we have no good thing beloved. We need His word stored up in our hearts to help us discern the path ahead. We need godly council(people in our lives who have built their own lives on the ROCK).

Any peace we desire in our lives comes from a place of trusting God, not ourselves.

So today, I’m surrendering all over again to His Will and His Way!

What do you need to surrender beloved? What have you been leaning on?

Three weeks ago when I was writing this podcast, I Three weeks ago when I was writing this podcast, I asked the Lord what His people needed to hear... “Courage Dear Heart,” is what I heard.

How in the world can we take courage when the world feels like it’s falling apart?

How in the world can we take courage when evil seems to prosper?

Beloved, now is the time to put on the full armor of God, to dive deep into His word so the Comforter can take the TRUTH we’ve stored in our hearts and wash our weary souls in it.

Don’t miss today’s episode of the Seek and Savor podcast as we learn what Courage looks like.

It was a bitter cold day. I was home from work wit It was a bitter cold day. I was home from work with a touch of vertigo and a bit of a heavy heart triggered by memories of this month 5 years ago.
My son was working upstairs, in his bedroom tucked among the tops of the trees in our backyard, when I heard them, they were singing as joyfully as if it was a warm summer day.
My son shared these thoughts with me, “They have no idea where their next meal is coming from and they’re singing at the top of their lungs.”
It was the wake-up call my heart needed. The Spirit gently tugged my heart back to the truth of His word.
“Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” Matt. 6:26(NKJV)
You are valuable friend.
When we value something, it holds great worth and we care for it.
That is what the Creator of this universe does for you.
I don’t know what circumstance might be threatening your peace today, friend but whatever it is, I hope you hear the birds singing, calling you back to a place of remembering who feeds and cares for you.

I’m learning to sabbath again. I’m slowing dow I’m learning to sabbath again.
I’m slowing down my body and my soul for one day each week to practice taking in the day as a gift. I’m trying not to see that day as an empty spreadsheet I need to fill with productivity but as the gift that it is.

Here’s what I’ve learned in the slowing down.

When I make space to take it all in. I see things I never saw, I smell things that take me back to sweet memories and my mind and soul don’t feel so crowded anymore.
I’m asking Jesus to fill my day and listening to my body when it needs to eat and drink and rest.

My body isn’t accustomed to this slowing down, so it requires deep breaths to exhale the anxiety of expectations I place on myself.

I’m learning to trust God for more.

The other six days might require us to work from sun up to sundown packing in all the extras. Our minds might even tell us we shouldn’t give up a whole day to “rest.”
But our spirits know we were created for it and God thought it was important enough, to model it.
So, try it friend.
Let’s discipline our flesh that says, 6 days are not enough to do all that is required.

Remember what it feels like to let go and let God.
The incredible thing is that in letting go, and being still and knowing, we receive a rest that will carry us through another week.
“Return to your rest my soul, for the Lord has been good to you.” Psalm 116:7 (NIV)
