Hide Me Away O Lord!

Posted on October 28, 2016December 21, 2016by tara.dickson

“The Lord is a shelter for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.  Those who know your name trust in you,  For you, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for you.”  Psalm 9:9      This is one of those verses beloved that I just want to soak in.  There is so […]

Letting Go: A Verse About the Changing Season.

Posted on October 27, 2016December 21, 2016by tara.dickson

As seasons change, the leaves they turn.  A cold wind blows, the leaves let go. Back to the earth from whence they came.  First a seed, then a shoot, fully bloomed and then turning.  For us life has seasons, they too come and go.  We start out small unsure of who we are. We grow […]

What To Do When You Feel Stuck.

Posted on October 26, 2016December 21, 2016by tara.dickson

Have you ever longed for life to be something more than what it is? Day in and day out, the same old, same old. Not only the same daily routine but the same challenges, the same lack. You aren’t sure what it is that is lacking. Maybe it’s because of your job, maybe it’s […]

You Will Be Called Oaks of Righteousness.

Posted on October 25, 2016December 21, 2016by tara.dickson

A few days ago I posted ” What are you Wearing?”. In it I shared with you about the wardrobe we wear when we are in Christ. How we are dressed in righteousness and how when we are walking through a broken time of mourning the Lord says He will give us a crown of […]

I Will Never Leave You.

Posted on October 23, 2016December 21, 2016by tara.dickson

He himself has said, “I will never leave you or forsake you.  Therefore we can boldly say : The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.  What can man do to me?” Sometimes beloved it is good to just sit with a small morsel of truth and rest in it. This is one […]

A love letter to set you free.

Posted on October 22, 2016December 21, 2016by tara.dickson

A not uncommon quote is , ” The truth will set you free.” But did you know beloved that there is life in the verse right before it that explains that quote? Jesus was talking to the Jews who had already believed him. They had stepped out on a limb and decided […]

What Are You Wearing?

Posted on October 22, 2016December 21, 2016by tara.dickson

I have been thinking a lot about how we view ourselves. This week my youngest daughter got a job at a clothing store. She loves all things fashion but she loves people even more. We have had several discussions about what a huge privilege it is to be able to work the dressing […]

Water in their face and Pharaoh at their back… But God.

Posted on October 19, 2016December 21, 2016by tara.dickson

I woke up this morning and my heart was so heavy, I felt a bit like the children of Israel standing at the brink of the Red Sea. The waves ahead  seemed so high and yet they were right smack dab in the middle of the rescue. I wonder when they were facing […]

Drink From the Well

Posted on October 19, 2016December 21, 2016by tara.dickson

Now the day is over.  Night is drawing nigh.  Shadows of the evening, steal across the sky. These are the words that came to my mind as I saw the night sky above me on a walk last night. It produced such a longing in my heart for that calm sweet feeling that comes when […]

Come to Me Beloved, Come to Me.

Posted on October 18, 2016December 21, 2016by tara.dickson

Come to me… So it’s the middle of October and I can imagine that the fall days that seemed to stretch ahead of you are filling up. You’re beginning to think about all the things that simply must get done before the holidays and you are still carrying in your heart those burdens and concerns […]

A little bit of fall and a little bit of Christmas sparkle, it seems appropriate for this first day of December.
I stepped into Autumn with great excitement as I always do. The anticipation of what was to come felt hopeful.
And then the plug was pulled and life happened and the hope of all things being made new seemed to circle the drain. Has that happened to you beloved?
You start to Hope and then more hardship appears on the horizon.
Perhaps it happens when we aren’t fixing our eyes on the one who is HOPE but instead on what we “hope” will come to pass.
“Without becoming weak in faith, he contemplated his own body….. now as good as dead… yet with respect to the promise of God, he did not waver in unbelief.” Rom. 4:19-20
Abraham did it.
He looked at himself and saw the great LACK to be able to bring about the promises of God.
But He didn’t get stuck there.
Then he lifted up His eyes to the ONE who is Hope and he did not waver in unbelief.
If life has come at you full force dear ones, and the anticipation of what is to come feels like dread instead of HOPE, come with me.
Turn your eyes away from your body as good as dead and lift them up to our Savior, the long awaited Immanuel, God with us. ❤️

‘’Tis Mercy All” hangs in my bathroom. I see it everyday and yet I forget that living a life of faith often requires “walking by faith,” NOT by sight.
Then His Word reminds me, trusting in Christ is a privilege NOT a right and even our faith in Him is a gift!
It’s true, “’Tis Mercy All!”❤️
Happy Thanksgiving to those who are walking. Whether today looks like a faith walk or you can actually SEE His goodness, keep walking!

“We were created to live in a real, heart-gripping, agenda-setting, behavior forming awe of God.
But other awes kidnap our hearts.
Awe of creation, awe of other people, and awe of ourselves shove the awe of God out of our hearts.
So, we need grace to see again, to tremble again, and to bow down again at the feet of the One who deserves our awe.” - Paul David Tripp
Meditating on this today and letting the awe of God transform my heart.❤️
What thought is filling your heart today friends?

God desires to meet us smack dab in the middle of ALL of it!
We may not get to choose what life throws at us but we can certainly choose how we think about those things.
We can take every thought captive.
We can fix our eyes on Jesus,
And we can choose to let His love and peace fill our hearts. ❤️

In case you need to remember that His eyes are still on you beloved…
Grief may blur your vision but it doesn’t blur his.
His eyes are on you just like they are on the sparrow.
When life gets hard and it feels like one attack from the enemy after another, we may feel our vision blur.
But this is when His Spirit whispers, “Eyes on me beloved. Lift up your eyes. Seek my face. Savor my presence. I’m there. Look for me.”
Begin to remember His faithfulness.
Find joy “in the midst of pain.”
See the evidence of God’s tender mercies.

He lines the grief with unexpected moments of joy like a bird lines her nest with feathers from her own breast so the harsh sticks won’t harm her babies.

You are loved friends. You are so loved.

I was thinking this morning about the “anticipation” the Christmas season brings. I realized that as I’ve grown older this anticipation has been joined by an ache for “all things to be made right” in my own world and in the world at large.
Isn’t that the definition of longing for Jesus?
We know He walks with us.
His very presence brings comfort.
And yet…
All is not yet, as it should be.
As we step into this season of giving thanks and anticipation, let’s be okay with the ache as well.
Because we won’t feel truly at HOME until we see Him face to face.
